Russell's Parousia to be translated in Romanian

Preterism is spreading like wildfire, and it is clear to most of us that we are in the midsts of a reformation or revival in the Church. Recently, I have been able to contact the Reformed Theological Institute in Bucharest, Romania, and initiate a costly and lengthy process of translating James Stuart Russell's Parousia in Romanian.

Whew! Stealth asteroid nearly brought End of the World

A sizable asteroid zipped near our planet this month without anyone noticing because it traveled through an astronomical blind spot, scientists said. The space boulder passed Earth within 288,000 miles (461,000 kilometers) -- or 1.2 times the distance to the moon -- on March 8, but since it came from the direction of the sun, scientists did not observe it until four days later.

Dispensationalist Dobson calls for involvement in Society

James Dobson calls for christians' involvement in society at the annual National Religious Broadcaster's conference. The amazing thing about Dobson's position is that things are supposed to be as bad as he describes them in order for "the second coming" to take place. His position is just as contradictory as any other dispensationalist that is trying to save the world...

Issues with Preterism from a Dispensationalist

I will try and make this short and simple.... According to Prets, the Second Coming, or at least A coming of Christ has already happened. My question is when the Times of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24) was fulfilled? Because, if you notice, the Second Coming comes AFTER it ends, not before it. According to my watch, Israel was trodden down by the Gentiles until 1967. Or was this trodding down some spiritual trodding down?

Examining the soteriological implications of the ''Already/Not Yet

by Parker
Christians today take great joy and comfort in declaring the completed work of Christ for salvation. In fact, such blessedness and assurance is naturally assumed and taken for granted. However, a careful examination of the "already/not yet" construct reveals that the proclamation of a completed salvation and redemption for the saints can only be justified from a preterist perspective.

When Billy Graham Planned To Kill One Million People

There's a piquant contrast in the press coverage across the decades of Billy Graham's various private dealings with Nixon, as displayed on the tapes gradually released from the National Archive or disclosed from Nixon's papers. I'll come shortly to the recent flap over Graham and Nixon's closet palaverings about the Jews, but first let's visit another interaction between the great evangelist and his commander in chief Back in April, l989 a Graham memo to Nixon was made public.

Anticlimactic Conclusions

What if every Super Bowl ended in a tie game? What if the 2000 U.S. Presidential election would have ended with co-Presidents George W. Bush and Al Gore? What if after all Jesus' talk about the coming Kingdom, that was forcefully advancing (Mt 11:12), the kingdom never really came in fullness?

The Promise of the Future review by Venema

For over 20 years, the standard amillennial textbook in Reformed colleges and seminaries has been Anthony Hoekema's classic work The Bible and the Future. This state of affairs may soon change because of the recent publication of a new book by Cornelis Venema entitled The Promise of the Future. Dr. Venema, professor of doctrinal studies at Mid-America Reformed Seminary, has given the church a well-written and comprehensive textbook on eschatology from a Reformed and amillennial perspective.

Obstacles in Understanding

by Arthur Melanson

One of the obstacles in understanding preterist truth is our old futuristic mind-set. Futurism perches its premise of “the end” on being the end of planet earth. This is simply not true as many Scriptures testify: “And He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which He has established forever.” (Ps. 78:69) And this famous reference: “One generation passes away, and another generation comes; but the earth abides forever.” (Eccl. 1:4)

The Little Horn of Daniel's Sea Beast

by Don Preston

Missile defense shield will bring Armageddon, Rapture

Another interesting story from the "out of touch" department: "Mankind's final rendezvous with destiny: this latest military technology/ system will bring civilization to its conclusion, followed by the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and Rapture." The cautious warning is nonetheless "After studying missile defense, leave it alone because of Satan's involvement. If you keep on tracking the system, you may draw the enemy towards you.". Wait...is Satan bringing the Second Coming of Christ?

The Lord's Supper: Dining With Our King

by Parker
[Quote from Ed Stevens] "It is easy to see why some thought the observance should have ceased at AD 70 if Christ returned then, based on 1 Cor. 11:26, but, a quick glance at the Gospel parallels which record the institution of the Lord's Supper should be enough to dispel that notion (see Matt. 26:29; Mk. 14:25; and Lk. 22:16-18). Note carefully that Jesus promised to eat this supper with the disciples again after the kingdom had arrived, and to observe it in His memory in the mean time ... The observance of the supper now is not a solemn remembrance of Him in anxious longing for His return, but a victory celebration with Him at His table in His kingdom. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. Whether still alive or physically dead we live together with Him, reign with Him, eat and drink with Him, and commune with Him."

The Lord's Supper; Is it still necessary after A.D. 70?

by Richard McPherson
This topic is discussed among Preterits, today. Some say that this and baptism are still required and other say that it is not. So, who is right and who is wrong? This article is not to say one is right and the other is wrong, but to let
the scripture speak for itself. If you feel that I am taking a scripture out of context, please tell me.

Focus on the Family: Welcome to the End of the World

An almost humorous story from Focus on the Family: "What will Joel do now that he realizes he’s missed the Rapture? Is the Pond as safe as Curt and Benny think? Find out in Episode 6 of Breakaway’s Web-only novel, "Risking Daylight." Catch the latest in this exciting end-times adventure!". What is even worse is the disclaimer: "The above is an entirely fictitious story and meant only as one interpretation of what might happen at Christ’s return. Breakaway, nor Focus on the Family, is not in any way endorsing any particular theological doctrine."

Israel Pulls Out of Three West Bank Towns

Scaling down its biggest military operation in a generation, Israel withdrew from three West Bank towns Friday but failed to comply with U.S. demands that it leave all Palestinian-controlled areas to give a boost to an American envoy's truce mission.

Tipper Gore Considering Run for Senate

WASHINGTON — Tipper Gore is weighing an overture from Democrats to run for her husband's old Senate seat from Tennessee, sources close to her said Thursday. The sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Democrats urged Mrs. Gore to run after Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., announced last Friday that he would not seek re-election.
