On the inside of you, you will sense something prompting you to say words and syllables. Just open your mouth and let the words flow. I do not care if it is 'la, la, la,' or 'da, da, da.' The devil hates it all." -- Rod Parsley |

by Timothy Berman First, I want to make an open apology for not being here for some time, been dealing with some personal sensitive issues, but am now more able to frequent and participate as well as prepare and post articles.
Secondly, I would like to make a brief critique (of which follows) of a book a friend of mine happened to pass on to me. It is regarding Dr. Spargimino's book, "The Anti-Prophets"
This particular book is portrayed as being the answer to why Preterism is not to be considered scriptural as well as a viable option of Eschatological view.
Spargimino makes assertions and comments that, to paraphrase, seems more of a fictional novel reading. Yet, instead of treating Preterism and historical evidence that most of us have studied before embracing this doctrine, he first deals with Dominion, Reconstruction, and other such doctrines.
Dr. Spargimino also mentions Gary North, Gary Demar, and Rushdoony most often throughout his book. Nowhere have I read so far, does he actually respond intellectually to the historical and scriptural evidence.
Within the latter part of the book, he briefly deals with the "proof texts" of preterism, which is nothing more than what most Preterists respond to and show forth in reasonable discussions that there is no other possible interpretation.
Overall, the book is really nothing more than a person writing his views on various doctrines in vague form and fashion.
I am currently preparing a more full critique of his book that will be posted here within the next month or so.

Re: A Critical Review (Score: 1)

Keep in mind also that Rushdoony was never a Preterist of any sort. He was always, from as long as he was involved in teaching scripture, a historist. Many of his ardent followers (Sandlin, Mark Rushdoony, Blumenfeld, et al) are historists as well. It is a shame when ignorant people (Spargimino) try to critique someone's theology and they don't even know what it is.
