Preterism: Major Radio / Internet Debate Scheduled, Feb. 9th
Posted on Saturday, January 12 @ 07:18:36 PST by Virgil

Announcements The hosts of Covenant Radio, Jeff McCormack and William Hill, are glad to announce a major radio / Internet debate. The debate will be on February 9, 2008, at 10 AM EST. This will be 9 AM central time. This will be a two hour debate. The disputants in this debate will be Lou Ruggerio, dispensationalist, and Don K. Preston, preterist. Each man will have the responsibility and opportunity to both affirm a positive proposition, and deny his opponents affirmative proposition.

Resolved

: The Bible teaches in Matthew 16.27-28 that Christ's second coming in judgment would occur in the first century generation.

Affirm: Don K. Preston

Deny: Lou Ruggerio

Resolved

: The Bible teaches that the second coming of Jesus, as foretold in Matthew 16.27-28, is yet future, and will occur at the beginning of the millennium.

Affirm: Lou Ruggerio

Deny: Don K. Preston

Both men are experienced debaters, and have met each other before in radio debate. Furthermore, each man conducts himself in a proper manner, with Christian decorum, while at the same time pressing their arguments. This provides the listeners with the opportunity to focus on the issues at hand, and not on personalities.

You can listen to the debate live on the Covenant Radio website at http://www.covenantradio.com. Details for listening are listed there.

The broadcast will be LIVE and can be heard at the Covenant Radio web site in the LIVE player or via our TalkShoe account at: http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkCast.jsp?masterId=10156&cmd=tc

There is a discussion forum at the Covenant Radio website designed to allow listeners to present questions for this debate. The direct link is: http://covenantradio.com/forum...

The RSS feed for those who want to subscribe to the podcast is http://www.covenantradio.com/feeds...

If anyone wishes to donate to help cover the cost of such broadcasts, you can go to http://www.covenantradio.com/donate.html

Covenant Radio is currently enjoying approximately 3,000 active listeners at this time, but of course, this number does not begin to approach the number of Internet listeners.

This promises to be a lively, entertaining, and important discussion, of a hotly contested and controversial scriptural passage. Be sure to tune in and have your Bible and note book handy!

I have interacted with Bill and Jeff on another forum, and can attest to the fact that, in spite of neither professing full preterist beliefs, they have given an open forum on their website to preterist belief. They have defended preterists from the endless attacks by non-prets and partials that has unfortunately formed the debate thus far. They join Gary DeMar in showing openness and brotherly love towards full preterists. I believe that these men should be honored for shedding abroad the love of Christ.

I highly recommend their website to you all.
