I just found out today that Mr. Cecil Hook, a well known Church of Christ (and preterist) writer passed away on June 1st of 2007. Although he was not as skilled theologically as Max King, he shared some of the same views, and had a special message of God's grace.
His writings can be found at http://www.freedomsring.org

I had been a reader of his website for many years and had found in him a staunch reformer of past CoC errors of understandings. When I think of Cecil I think of “freedom in Christ”. Cecil was raised in the old school mentality of legalism that permeated the churches of Christ and as a minister he had taught the old school ways up until his later years. Once he retired he realized he had been freed from the constraints of adhering to “brotherhood dogma” and started studying to more fully understand that freedom which he had missed all his years. He became a very vocal minister via his website and undoubtedly influenced countless individuals in recognizing that freedom which had been a mystery to so many of us.
When I started exploring the preterist position last year a brother in Christ pointed me towards Cecil’s website thinking that I might find some ideas there. I had not stumbled onto Cecil’s preterist position previously and was pleasantly surprised to find a nice treasure trove of preterist articles there. It was a nice reinforcement for me to find someone that I was comfortable with theologically was leading the way for my new found understandings.
Cecil was a remarkably free man who was very similar to Paul in having lived a life of legalism, and then having found the freedom light of Christ it changed him forever.
