You think you just got a problem and you got a devil. You think you just got a headache and you got a devil. You think you just got a problem with your bank account and you got a devil. You think you've got a problem with your temper and you've got a devil. You think you've got a problem with depression and you've got a devil. -- Rod Parsley, Praise The Lord, Dominion Camp Meeting; July 6, 1999 |

News: Behold, I Am Coming Soon!

Brad from the Agnostic Review of Christianity writes: "In other words, is all the advertising done by Christians about Jesus returning to usher in his new era of glory justified? The verses clearly state that Jesus would return in his kingdom before all his associates had died. Some of them would still be alive when he arrived in his second coming with angels and rewards. attention given to this issue merited?"

by tom-g on Monday, March 12 @ 08:17:20 PDT (User Info | Send a Message) | To all those who deny the 24 hour day of Genesis,
Perhaps you may be able to see how you give grist for the atheist's mill with your unscriptural doctrine?
The article says:
"Jesus in John 11:9 defined daylight as having 12 hours, with night having the other 12 hours. Genesis 1:3 states that a day was divided into these two sections. God commanded that the seventh day be set aside for him and that no work be done on the Sabbath. If God is on a different timetable than a 24 hour day, then how long should a person observe the Sabbath? How many hours should comprise a Sabbath if it is not the same as a day?"
Where is he not correct if a day is not defined consistently in Genesis chapter one?

Old Earth attracts 4000 in Houston (Score: 1)
by Starlight on Tuesday, March 13 @ 09:39:37 PDT (User Info | Send a Message) | For those who might not be aware of the importance of the Old Earth position within the church today you might be surprised to find that just recently here in Houston we had nearly 4000 turn out to hear Hugh Ross expound on the Old Earth point of view. This conference was held at most likely the largest Baptist Church here in Houston and just exemplifies the growing recognition in mainstream churches of the Old Earth positions strength. Preterist tend to think that the Old Earth position is non existent, well nothing could be further from the truth. Preterism would be ecstatic if we could turn out 4000 at a conference hosted by the largest Baptist church here in Houston. I have personally been involved in Old Earth research for decades and can attest to you that Preterism is the little baby in comparison. I just thought it might be time to start setting the record straight.
Here is an excerpt concerning the conference and also I have listed a web link if you would like to verify this.
The Reasons To Believe regional conference in Houston, TX was truly a blessing. The leaders from chapters all over the country had a meeting on Friday and discussed how to work well together as chapters, as well as how to facilitate a better relationship between the chapters and the main organization. The ministry is looking to expand in neat and exciting directions, particularly with a focus on youth.
That last part is very important to me. Bringing Christ’s kingdom to the scientific community (as well as any other community) does not entail ramming agendas through school boards and courts. It entails God’s people choosing the scientific vocation, entering the community after gaining an education, and participating in the process, seeking God’s glory throughout. This means, of course, “playing by the rules”. I believe that if we participate in the process we can build bridges and demonstrate how people with a Christian view of the world can still do good science. We have a long way to go, but we can sure make a good start. The way to start is by encouraging our youth who have this interest instead of discouraging them, which unfortunately is what we have done so often in American evangelicalism.
Hugh Ross gave a good talk on Friday night with nearly 4,000 in attendance, and the seminars and workshops on Saturday were excellent. I particularly enjoyed philosopher Ken Samples’ talks on revelation and pluralism, as well as the breakout session that astronomer Jeff Zweerink led on the multiverse hypothesis, which turned out to be a very in-depth discussion of this alternative to the anthropic principle with a view towards developing testable distinctions between these different ideas.
In short, it was fantastic!
