News: New Speakers Added to TruthVoice 2007 Lineup
Posted on Tuesday, February 20 @ 20:09:06 PST by Virgil

Announcements As TruthVoice 2007 gets closer and closer, excitement is building about the topics and the speakers participating at the conference in April, and if that was not enough, two new speakers have been added to the lineup for this year's conference, and we are hoping this addition will further enhance and provide those attending with quality information and teaching material.

Marvin Jacobs served as a minister in Ashtabula, Ohio and has been heavily involved in the early grow and spread of Preterist eschatology in Northern Ohio, together with Max King. Marvin is an excellent speaker and will give us an excellent historical overview of Preterism in the last century.

Dale Robinson has been a supporter of PlanetPreterist and TruthVoice for several years. Dale has been creating course-formatted materials for teaching Preterist eschatology and is excited about bringing "Preterism 201" to those in attendance.

You can view a complete list of speakers at TruthVoice.com.

If you did not yet register for the conference, please go to http://truthvoice.com/register.html to register and reserve a seat. The website will also contain information on hotel reservations and directions to the venue.

For anyone interested in young earth theory, a fantastic article is found here. It's very long, but shows the reason why old earth theory cannot be supported.

Gentlemen,

I have followed all of the comments that have been posted and I thought I would put in my two cents worth.

I affirm as a true proposition that God at sundry times and in diverse manners spoke in times past unto the fathers by the prophets.

I affirm as a true proposition that Moses was one of those prophets by whom God spoke unto the prophets.

I affirm as a true proposition that in Gen. 1 the prophet of God supposed the term "day" and signified it in that supposition as a period of time of one cycle of the shining of the sun and the moon.

Therefore I affirm as a true conclusion that in Genesis chapter one as God supposed the term "day" it signified a period of time consisting of 24 hours.

I acknowledge that it is possible for a term to have many significations and at some other place in scripture use of the term "day" may be supposed with a different signification.

Intellectual honesty demands that an author be permitted to use any term he chooses as long as he defines the signification of his use. As all of you are well aware the true of practical knowledge, of which metaphysical truth is one branch, is when the thing conforms to the idea conceived in the intellect of the one who created it and is not subject to discursive reasoning. If what has been created is what the creator of the thing intended then this is affirmed by its creator as the true or the good.

It just so happens that we have the exact phrase in Genesis chapter 1 "And God saw that it was good" repeated 7 times, thereby logically affirming as a true proposition that what he had created turned out exactly as he had intended. The term "good" as it is supposed does not signify a contrast between good and evil, but the confirmation by God that what he had created was true.

Speculative truth, which is subject to discursive reasoning, reverses the process. When we form a proposition in our intellect and it conforms to a thing, then we say that what we know is true. In Genesis chapter 1 if we form a proposition in our intellect that affirms that a "day" is 24 hours then we say that our understanding is true. If we say that a "day" is not 24 hours then our understanding is false.

It seems to me that Sam et al, are reasoning from practical or metaphysical truth while JL et al, are reasoning from speculative truth. In other words oranges and apples. And as the old saying goes: never the twain shall meet.

I am really in awe and embarrassed to put in my two cents worth in front of an honest to gosh real live scientist. So please excuse me.

Tom
