Exclusive: What Is Your View Of Modern History?

PlanetPreterist Columns by Albert Persohn
I hate tangling with various brothers and sisters about some things here at Planet Preterist. I reflected on recent comments by critics and supporters alike and thought I would put together a small article on the conspiratorial view of modern history.

To keep the heat low, I’ll write in the first person. I am desperate to steer from Ad Hominem attacks and maintain an environment of harmony with my Christian Friends here and in other areas. So, enjoy!

I agree with Roosevelt:

“In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.”

A definition of conspiracy:

1. An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act.
2. A group of conspirators.
3. An agreement between two or more persons to commit a crime or accomplish a legal purpose through illegal action.
4. A joining or acting together, as if by sinister design

Lyndon Larouche, love him or hate him said something like this on conspiracy:

Conspiracy is everywhere, all change is brought about by it, if you don’t believe it you are mentally ill.

Well, he may be pushing it a bit far but the definition of conspiracy does leave us a lot of room to move.

For sure conspiracies are everywhere in history. Joseph’s brothers conspired against him. Absalom conspired against David. The Romans and the Pharisees conspired to lie about the resurrection. Hitler conspired to burn the Reichstag. Johnston conspired about the PT boats in Vietnam. Reagan conspired about Iran Contra. Every country in every place and every time has had a run of conspiracies.

It Is Not That You Believe In Conspiracies It Is The Conspiracy You Believe In!

All of my critics in this area are also conspiracy theorists. Some hold that a vast Liberal conspiracy is our enemy, others an Islamic one, and others allege a Bush Conservative conspiracy. Well they are all correct to a point. When two rival oil company execs nod and wink over caviar and Moet about a price rise they are by definition in a conspiracy. If you have any opinion about 911 at all you believe in a conspiracy, some see a Muslim one others an internal one, but everyone understands that a group of individuals agreed to commit a crime.

Your choice of conspiratorial influences determines your response to conditions. The closing of a manufacturing plant in your area may be attributed to a conspiracy by a group of “naked short sellers” draining money from the parent company or local government using zoning laws to raise land taxes too high or an evil cabal interested in wiping out national sovereignty.

We may need to ask which conspiracy position is the most correct. Is it yours? Is it mine? How would you know?

A great deal may be said in defense of the conspiratorial view. One who interprets the events of history as contrived rather than organic, struggles far less with trends in government or business.

For example we anticipate that a right wing, conservative Republican president and congress would work aggressively to stem the abortion tide but are perplexed that little or nothing changes.

The conspiratorial view provides the only satisfactory understanding of the left/right, liberal/conservative and Democrat/Republican divide. As time passes we observe that these are no longer distinctions but merely labels. Those with the conspiratorial view perceive that these meaningless divides are intended as distractions for the weak-minded and are simply the Hegelian Dialectic in operation. (Now we may not be right, but that’s how we perceive it!) Those with the organic view of history become frustrated that the elected leader who is supposed to have a set of values is somehow railroaded into inaction in enforcing them.

The Great LDY Conspiracy

There may be a conspiracy for world domination by Left-Handed Dyslexic Yodelers (LDY’s) out there.

The question is not whether a particular conspiracy position exists but how great its influence is. It is kind of a “my god vs. your god” position. In the pursuit of our understanding of the true power of conspiratorial groups we could traverse wide and far. This would take time. We may also isolate statements made by various targets of conspiratorial suspicion.

We could quote Ayatollah Homeni who threatened the west with extermination or Ariel Sharon who said, “We control America” or others. A question we need to ask ourselves is how much influence do people who make such statements really have? It may be that such a claim was made at a recent meeting of Left-Handed Dyslexic Yodelers (LDY) but really, if Hans the chicken farmer and Fritz the Sausage maker are the two heavy weights in the group it would seem that their influence over the West would be pretty limited.

This brings us to influence. How is it wielded? Does it need to be wielded? Can world domination be accomplished without influencing our thinking? Would anyone believe Fritz of the LDY if he said that his group controls the media? Not unless there were many other extremely influential, respected, well-healed and powerful Left-Handed Dyslexic Yodelers. However if almost every president, vice president, congressman, business leader and academic was a Left-Handed Dyslexic Yodeler we may want to watch the LDY’s. For the moment anyways Hans and Fritz aren’t much of a threat.

If leaders conspire against their people correctly they could use the right tools to accomplish great things. Read Herman Goering on sending people to war. These words were spoken during a break in his trial at Nuremberg:

“Why, of course, the people don't want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship."

“The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”

Well well well, this does go a long way to explain why so many nations go to war. There may be a “red threat”, or an” imperialist threat” or a “Hindu threat” or a “Muslim threat. Or there may not be a threat at all; we are just told there is one. How could mighty Rome have been under any genuine threat by a group of Pacifist Christians? Really, how?

In some cases a threat needs a bit of help. The Reichstag fire helped Hitler, the burning of Rome assisted Nero. If there are no witnesses to the threat you can actually fabricate one like Johnson and the PT boats in Vietnam. Someone else with an axe to grind can assist the process. Libya was bombed by US forces because transmitters sending messages to terrorists were discovered, this clever plan was carried out by Mossad agents who installed the transmitters. Stories like this abound. Every intelligence agency since Adam likely carried on this manner.

Is There Anyone?

Is there anyone with influence out there bragging about control over our minds? Is their boast credible? Have they said anything else that would make us wonder?

Let’s say someone said this:

Our organization is grateful that the media businesses in our country have been discrete about our plans for the nation since 1950. It would have been hard for people in the last few years to accept that we will be running their lives but they are now ready to hear it.

You would likely say: What organization is that? Is this another communiqué from the Left-Handed Dyslexic Yodelers? Who said that? It can’t be real.

Your anger, concern and possibly fear would be justified. Let me give you the original quote:

We are grateful to the Washington Post, the NY Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years.

But now the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government.

The supra national sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in most centuries.

If Fritz of the LDY said it you could ignore him and call him a nutcase. What power does he have to make the media listen? What a dingbat!

The problem is that LDY Fritz did not say it. David Rockefeller of the Council on Foreign Relations said it 1991. Earlier we said the LDY would be of concern if “almost every president, vice president, congressman, business leader and academic was a Left-Handed Dyslexic Yodeler”. That membership roster describes the CFR. When Rockefeller made this statement he was not the cleaner or the cook but the Chairman.

So much for “Hannity said everything is going fine in Iraq” and “Rush says Islamo-fascism is the real enemy”.

Here is a quote on the Council on Foreign Relations

"the CFR is the nearest thing we have to a ruling establishment in the United States." Richard Harwood October 30, 1993 issue of the Washington Post, the CFR

Does this indicate a conspiracy?

Controlling the media implies pushing a certain line to the audience. It speaks of truth manipulation. It suggests that news we should not hear is either eliminated or modified.

Would the reader like another example?

The cover of International editions of Newsweek, aimed at Europe, Asia, and Latin America, displays in large letters the title "LOSING AFGHANISTAN," along with an arresting photograph of an armed jihadi. The cover of the United States edition, in contrast, is dedicated to celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz and is captioned "My Life in Pictures."

So what’s happening here? It is simple really. Afghanistan is lost, the Taliban are back, their former ambassador at large is studying at Yale. The loss of Afghanistan is no secret to much of the rest of the world, it is just kept from us.

It Needs Something Else

To kick along a major series of changes to our world we need a level of deception. A lie. Not just any lie though, we need a “Noble Lie”

Perhaps we need a visit with the Neocons!

Did Chairman Rockefeller say anything else of interest?

"For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents such as my encounter with Castro to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as "internationalists" and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure—-one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." David Rockefeller, Memoirs, page 405

"We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order." David Rockefeller

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." Henry Kissinger, CFR Member

Thank you Albert. It's refreshing to hear some realistic political news for a change.

"Lenin is said to have declared that the best way to destroy the capitalist system was to debauch the currency… Lenin was certainly right. There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society . . . The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the Ode of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million can diagnose . . ."
