News: Podcast Episode 24 is Out!

This morning I had the privilege of speaking at the Miami Valley Church on the topic of pacifism and nonviolence. I think this discussion is relevant in light of contemporary events, the war in Iraq and the war on terror our country is facing right now. There are also unique cultural and anthropological aspects to the text used from Matthew 5, aspects which are useful in understanding the differences between pacifism and nonviolence.

(User Info | Send a Message) | I thoroughly enjoyed that and appreciate you taking the time to rerecord it for the podcast. I've never heard the cultural context of that passage explained before, and I found it very insightful and thought provoking. I'm a bit unclear though as to what you were saying about the two different parts to Abraham's testing and why the language of talking "to God" changes to "about God", etc. Are there any resources or references you would recommend for looking into that further?
However, that's the second time this week I have come in contact with the verse about Abraham's belief being counted as righteousness, and you offered great thoughts and ideas on that as well. The word "beloved" is such a strong term throughout scripture.
There isn't any chance of a text version of this audio posted around here, is there? |
