"What a way to live! With optimism, with anticipation, with excitement. We should be living like persons who don’t expect to be around much longer"

Dialectical Toys

Church Since Thomism introduced the philosophy of theology (which Neothomism later intensified), Christians have been increasing pain by increasing knowledge. (Ecclesiastes 1:18). Not only consequent pain, but pain generated and regenerated with each neo-theology that we attempt to make fashionable.

From Blackaby until today, passing through Yonngi Cho's "church growth" and all of White's recipes for "Spiritual Warfare", without forgetting about the Prosperity theologies that mucked up the Church, we can see - after some time has passed - that attempts to kill boredom have not ceased.

I find out late, yet I discover anyhow, that now the most select group of American philotheologians, a group not over about 50 people, are very interested to cause the common (occidental) believer to restructure daily patterns of thought, in accordance with the mold that they believe is correct to impose on others.

When you read them, you realize immediately that they even feel "raped" when the "dialectic" of seminarians is reduced to three marked moments: 1- a thesis, 2) an antithesis, and 3) a synthesis. To resolve this feeling of "violation" they are simply decreeing that theological dialectic be questionable and unnecessary within intellectual circles.

I am surprised at the exterminating will of the "northern culture" of the baptists. Its not enough for them to remain indifferent towards something they consider obsolete, they have to go a step further, stick their own spoons in it and leave their mark.

Let's imagine for a moment the mind of a student of protestant theology (in any country of the world). It would look like a moon in which his educators have left a print like an astronaut would, as a testimony that it was deflowered, that they stepped on it before anyone else.

What they would find antipathetic and troublesome (in this case, the dialectic reduced to those three moments), they feel a need to destroy with fervorous satisfaction. All pop literature for "christians" published in Miami and sent towards Central America and below is becoming so strange... More than one of them must be attempting to change the wine of the Holy Supper for a refreshing Budweiser....

Concretely, they are content because the Marx-Hegel type of dialectic can be disapproved of without any undesired risings in Latin American churches. The apex of Yankee "thinkers" is rejoicing while they make tons of logs with the fallen trees of Communism.

I am not a defender of "God is dead" cultists. However, neither do I find so much North American joy necessary over world history's failed attempts that we have seen pass us by. I don't know . . . they could just fake it a little bit. I do feel shame on their behalf, when I see them breaking "the toys of the front door neighbors" with such childish pride.

In exchange for the broken toys, different toys will be given to "missionary" churches, which nobody will care about breaking in about five more years, calling them "Conservative and Obsolete Theologies". Yet it will also turn out to be another form of three-count dialectic, only it will look more authorized because each new book and each new song will be sponsored by Pizza Hut.

Alex, what a great submission. As I was reading through, it was as if he was describing the Preterism that so many American Preterits want to export overseas - of course in the greater scheme of things he is talking about the greater effect that Evangelical Americans tend to impose on the rest of the world, trying to affect everything foreign Christians do from theology, worship style, music, prayer and cultural values.

I was surprised to see you submit this article in light of your recent comments regarding Emergent, when Emergent encourages Christians to embrace their cultural roots and reject the pushy theology and worship styles promoted by American missionaries.

Well,

The sentiment expressed by Anonymous: "Yankee thinkers", "Pizza Hut" corporatizing, "Budweiser" sacrament, etc, are not at all surprising, since Latin Americans have felt the brunt of brutal military and corporate exploitation by WASH DC for about 150 years.

But, Latin Americans are now acting more independant of WASH DC than ever before, probably due in large part because the US is so busy occupying and causing so much chaos in the Middle East right now.

It is very likely that WASH DC will never again be able to exert the kind of domination over Latin America that it has in the past. We all know how quick WASH DC was to recognize the brief coup leaders in Venezula. But the people of Venezula would not tolerate such a coup or a puppet regime of WASH DC. And, that pattern is being replicated in numerous areas of South America, much to the frustration of WASH DC politians and some so-called evangelists, like Pat Robertson.

Anonymous, please understand that virtually every Catholic, Protestant, or Non-Denominational church in North America is a State Corporation and a federally-regulated, IRS 501 (c) 3 organization. So, they bear some of the image of their creator, the State, and will seek to export their product in a way that usually does not resemble the methodology that Christ espoused in His Sermon on the Mount, and elsewhere.

Ever since the Church became a State Corporation, in 312 AD, under Caesar Constantine with the Edict of Milan, the Church has been, for the most part, an agent of the State, much like an NGO.

I wouldn't cry too much about them trying to export their product to you. And, of course, their export will smell somewhat of "White Mans' Burden" and "Manifest Destiny", because racism is still deeply ingrained in many North American, state-incorporated churchgoers.

So, Anomymous, you're right, the stuff that's being exported to you does stink.

I suppose that your method to exposing the export/import for the stinky product that it is is a reasonable one.

But it seems more appropriately directed to those in your area, as they are the ones who can refuse to allow such a stinky product it to be imported?

I mean, if there is no Demand for an import of such poor quality, then the Supply should dwindle pretty quickly.

Or, if you believe you have a superior product, in the form of an ideology or theology, why not export it to North America. There's a lot of barbaric savages in American churches who could use some enlightenment and foreign missionary work.

So, Anomymous, don't wait around for the White Man to send you a quality dose of the Holy Spirit.

That's something he really doesn't have.

You've got to get that from God, yourself.

Peace to you,
C. Livingstone
