News: A Brief History of the Apocalypse

The website A Brief History of the Apocalypse has documented hundreds if not thousands of instances of failed prophecies and prognostications of the end starting as early as 2800 BC. Interestingly enough, Christ's prediction of a "same generation return" is the 4th entry on the list, and the Essenes expectations of an AD 70 end-time epic battle is the next one down.

Re: The Preterist Position: Antidote To End Times Lunacy (Score: 1)

Interesting catalog.
I especially like the one about Tertullian being a member of the first Christian doomsday cult.
Maybe someday soon, skeptical and mainstream media sources will make note of the Preterist position as the antidote to End Times Lunacy.
The point on the Essene view seems to virtually confirm the Preterist position. Maybe that's an added reason Josephus gave such a good history about the Apocalyptic fulfillment of 70 AD, because certain Jews too anticipated it, too.
Peace to you all,

Many of the kind of dates mentioned in this interesting site seem to be religious substitutions for palm reading and astrology etc.
The most common question I ever get in attempting to introduce Preterism is: What's next then? |

Since the web page was put up in 2003 some of the predictions have already passed this year. There is a page that show what the US will look like after environmental changes will submerge part of the US. Looks like we will be OK here in Ohio for the most part. It is all very entertaining. |
