News: A Major Announcement by Don K. Preston

I would like to make what is, to me at least, a major announcement. Hopefully, this will mean great things for the future of the preterist movement, and the advancement of the Truth of God's word. A week ago last Sunday, I resigned as the pulpit minister at the Ardmore church of Christ a week ago, in order to devote my time to full time seminar work, debates, and writing.
There are several reasons for my decision but, among them is the fact that, my strength (if such I have), is seminar speaking, writing and debating. So, I want to be completely free and unencumbered to pursue those activities, to help promote Covenant Eschatology. Many of you have, in fact, encouraged me to take this step well before now. Well, the step has been taken!
This is a new thing for me, since I have never had to raise funds for my salary.
I am not quite yet in desperation mode for fund raising. But, I am trying to find some really dedicated people willing to make a five year commitment (three years at the least), to support me on a monthly basis. I hope and pray that in that amount of time the ministry will become self supporting. If not, I will just have to keep begging!
I have already spoken privately to a few individuals about our ministry, and I truly appreciate the response so far. However, we are no where near where we have to be to not only survive, but to work as we want. In addition to our living expenses, we will have to have enough funding for an office, complete office equipment, and promotional activities. So, as you can see, we are in need of serious support from the preterist community. If you are as serious about the spreading of God's truth as I am, I hope that you can see the way clear to support this ministry. As the old saying goes, no amount is too small, or too large!
My wife and I are in the process of establishing a non-profit corporation, to assist those who need the tax benefits of contributions. We have already registered the name of Preterist Research Institute, and will certainly provide any information you might need if you wish to help us in this effort.
I wanted to make this announcement to the preterist community in hopes that some of you might be able to help. I hope that other preterist websites will post this message and appeal. This is a very frightening, but exciting time for the Prestons. We are convinced that for Covenant Eschatology to advance even further that someone needs to step out and do this. I hope and pray that you will step forward and join with us in our efforts to share the wonderful Truth of God’s accomplished salvation with the world. Please keep us in your prayers!

I would like to make a one time donation of $5 Million dollars. Well, OK maybe not.

What I can't understand is why you quit when you have no financial backing. Sounds like you have done NOTHING to prepare for this endeavor. You just up and quit your job and then stick your hand out for money. I fully understand the need to follow your heart and respect your right to get your message out but what is this going to do to your family? Looks like you have your priorities out of order. |

(User Info | Send a Message) | First of all I want to thank Don Preston for his courageous commitment to the truth of Gods word notwithstanding the cost to him and his family. And I definitely know that there has been a tremendous cost paid by Don for going public many years ago with his understanding of the covenant eschatological viewpoint. Don is a modern day martyr in the truest sense. Many may not be aware of the issues that Don has faced in his decisions for truth and he is too much of an obedient servant to God to lament his difficulties. The reality is that the religious community is just not ready yet for a full preterist church and that actuality has to be dealt with. Our realism in the preterist community is that with this being the case I believe we need to come together as a community and support Don. As Don has stated in his announcement that any amount would be appropriate I would hope that we can all look at our own personal situation and consider how we can help in making a difference. I believe Don is a specially gifted man of God who deserves our support. His knowledge is tremendous and his ability to kindly speak to people one on one or in a group is from God and is a reflection of Christ in him.
This is one of those historical times that comes about only rarely for change in the foundational thinking of the religious community and we do not want our labors to have been in vain. Consider also that we are in the infancy of this movement and with the advent of the internet we may be seeing a new reformation/restoration movement which could have great implications for Christian living for us and our children.
Don’s spiritual gifts make him “a man for this season”.
The Lord is presenting the opportunity for many of us also at this time, “to seek the moment.”
Please prayerfully consider to not let this opportunity pass to help Don stand up for Gods truth. Do not think that someone else is going to take care of Don’s needs. I leave us all with these verses from James and l Timothy to contemplate.
(James 2:15 NIV) Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?
(1 Tim 5:17 NIV) The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18 For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."
