Preterism: A Bride Waiting at the Altar?
Posted on Sunday, March 26 @ 10:05:24 PST by Randall East

Preterism Life14all submitted: " Imagine your reading a really great book and you get close to the ending when you discover that the last 5 pages are missing. It could be a romance novel that has drawn you into their reality. The characters have now become like part of your own family. Their lives are just like your very own, a real life soap opera. In that moment you realize not only what a waste of your time that book was but also a great sense of disappointment in not knowing its ending. Or maybe you received a letter from someone dear to you that didn’t include the last page? These things can be very frustrating indeed. You need to know the outcome or it will drive you crazy. The suspense is just so overwhelming.

Question:

IS THIS WHAT GOD DID WHEN HE GAVE US HIS INSPIRED WORD?

Christians are often quoted as saying that the bible is God’s love letter to His beloved church. If this is true, wouldn’t it also be very disappointing to find out that God’s love letter to us was incomplete? Instead of ending with “He who testifies of these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. It would read “stayed tuned” or “ to be continued ”.
It would seem then that for the last 2000 years the bride of Christ has been dressed for her wedding and she is still waiting for her groom to appear. Waiting for the completion of God’s love letter to her. Waiting for her Groom to come back to set up an eternal kingdom where she will reign in glory with Him forever. In this scenario that would make Gods letter sort of a fairy tale. What a sad picture we have here. A bride all adorned in her marriage garments and the Groom is yet to appear to her. How very, very sad. Her friends are comforting her telling her that His appearing will be "very soon". He's been standing at the door for the last 2000 years waiting for that final hour to arrive while His beloved bride still waits for Him. It’s more pitiful then sad to see her wait this way.
The good news is this. Our Groom has carried His bride across the threshold already. There are no missing pages in Gods book or love letter to us. The ending has been there all this time. To have a new beginning there has to be an ending. The prototype has to be replaced by the finished work. The end of the temple era has given way to the Groom who has consummated His relationship with His bride. The honeymoon is our very lives with Him. Our joy is complete.
No greater love story has ever been written. God is the author of love. He “coined” the phrase on a cross. He has revealed His greatest “mystery” which is, Christ in us! This is our hope and the conclusion of the great love letter of His that took centuries to pen.
His love letter is complete because it is now written upon our hearts.

Very neat writing! You described exactly how I felt before and after I understood God's finished work. Your writing clicked immediately with me, and when I followed your link, I understood why! Great portraits!!

Keep it up, blessed in His rest,

Alexander Rodríguez
