History valensname submitted: "In the alien and fallen angel views, the Nephilim are thought to be the offspring of the union between the “sons of God” and the “daughters of men.” A careful reading of the text will show that there is no causal relationship. The Nephilim were already present: “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward. . .” (Gen. 6:4).

We read about the Nephilim later in biblical history in Numbers 13:33 where nothing is said about the “sons of God” and “daughters of men”: “There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” The Bible mentions the “sons of the Anakim” as being a “great and tall” people (Deut. 9:2). Of course, there’s also Goliath “whose height was six cubits and a span” (1 Sam. 17:4). Thought this might be relevant to the Genesis Flood Posts.

When I was a Dispy I preached a lot of dumb stuff about this. It is good to see the subject get some press.

Does anyone have any observations about Goliath's brother with six fingers and six toes?

2 Samuel 21:20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

1 Chronicles 20:6 And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot and he also was the son of the giant.

Now thanks to Tim Martin and Dick Fischer I am more inclined to believe that the daughters of men were something more along the lines of pre-Adamic man. Makes alot more sense than aliens or angel progeny. Men of old...say pre-Adamic. Kinda makes you think. God always did have a thing about His people intermingling with others.

Anybody else got any good ideas?

We can go on and on but don't think we will convince the other. :-)


Funny how the post isn't talking about the Nephilim anymore. I haven't heard anyone refute Gary's thesis.

I have no problem with Gary DeMar's article. It is irrelevant to the issues I raise in my book. If you've read BEYOND CREATION SCIENCE, you'll know that I don't even mention the Nephilim and Genesis 6:4.

Can you give more information, basee on Scripture, on your view regarding other people existing before Adam?

I'm not seeking to debate it, just information and asking questions for more information or clarification.
