The largest branch of North American Judaism voted on Sunday to oppose Samuel Alito's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. More than 2,000 delegates of the Union for Reform Judaism adopted a resolution saying Alito would "shift the ideological balance of the Supreme Court on matters of core concern to the reform movement" on abortion rights, women's rights, civil rights and the scope of federal power.
The vote came at the closing session of the group's biennial convention, which was held in Houston Wednesday through Sunday.
During a debate before the vote, Jeff Wasserstein, a former law clerk for Alito and a self-described liberal Democrat, argued in favor of Alito's nomination, while Elliot Mincberg, vice president of People for the American Way, argued against it.
The Union for Reform Judaism represents about 900 synagogues in North America with an estimated membership of 1.5 million. Of the three major streams of U.S. Judaism Orthodox and Conservative are the others it is the only one that sanctions gay ordination and supports civil marriage for same-gender couples.
The Senate Judiciary Committee plans confirmation hearings on Alito's nomination in January.

If, per Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Hebrews 8:8, the Law is to be written on the hearts of the Israelite, and today's Jews comprise literal, physical Israel, how can today's Jew be opposed to issues such abortion reform?
If dispensationalists believe:
1. The continuance of a literal, physical Israel today can be found today
2. We are in the new covenant
Does it not follow that literal, physical Israel would be found among those who are FOR abortion reform?

It wouldn't surprise me "if" or that Jewish non-profit religious organizations and their member organizations are using their favored and subsidized status as a voting base to act as a Political Action/Lobby effort.
James Dobson was caught doing the same thing, apparently, and after being threatened by his corporate creator (the State the IRS) with loosing his non-profit benefits, he simply created an offshoot Political Action Comittee (PAC) to engage in his lobby efforts aimed in the direction of the District of Columbia.
Peace to you all,

I'm certain that we can't refute the fact that he was probably involved in the bombing of the Twin Towers, and New Orleans levee system. You can't trust these Italian Catholics now can you...especially if they are friends with Bush.
Alito the terrorist. Right Al?
