News: Senator: God judging U.S. with disastrous hurricanes
Posted on Thursday, September 29 @ 07:13:50 PDT by John

Society An Alabama state senator says the reason why the Gulf Coast is suffering from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita is because God is judging Americans in that region for sinful behavior. "New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast have always been known for gambling, sin and wickedness," wrote Sen. Hank Erwin, R-Montevallo, in a column, according to the Birmingham News. "It is the kind of behavior that ultimately brings the judgment of God."

Erwin said he was awed, but not surprised after surveying the damage to hard-hit regions including Gulfport and Biloxi, Miss., and the fishing town of Bayou La Batre on the Alabama coast.

"Warnings year after year by godly evangelists and preachers went unheeded. So why were we surprised when finally the hand of judgment fell?" he wrote. "Sadly, innocents suffered along with the guilty. Sin always brings suffering to good people as well as the bad."

Sen. Hank Erwin says, "Sadly, innocents suffered along with the guilty. Sin always brings suffering to good people as well as the bad."

Sen. Hank Erwin also says, "We all need to embrace godliness and churchgoing and good, godly living, and we can get divine protection for that point."

Huh? Why didn't those innocents receive "divine protection"? Sounds like the senator is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Perhaps he should talk about "divine protection" after reading this article: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=26672

A brief quote: "Villagers in several areas of the northeast Upper Nile region say that when women are captured by government forces they are asked: 'Are you Christian or Muslim?' Women who answer 'Muslim' are set free, but typically soldiers gang-rape those who answer 'Christian' then cut off their breasts and leave them to die as an example for others."

Where was their divine protection?

Yeah,

And Wash DC, too.

Not counting the mass homicide emanating from there, the US federal District of Columbia has the highest percentage of homosexuality of and city in North America, maybe more than the city on the planet.

Peace,
C. Livingstone

So...God judged the gulf coast according to the word of (tel)evangilists and preachers. Are they our new prophets, sent from God to warn the people of the earth of impending judgment?

I guess the only problem with that is that they're not real prophets.

God bless.

From the responses of some people here, I guess God is mandated to judge the most wicked before he judges the least wicked, likewise he is also mandated not to bring a calamity to judge the wicked, which at the same time, can be a trial for the righteous, likewise to bring the righteous home into His presence upon their death.

But au contraire, the Bible clearly shows that God judges the wicked whenever he pleases, hence a wicked person being judged is independent on their level of wickedness, since sin in the least to the greatest is at enmity with God.

Likewise the Bible also shows that with the same calamity, God does judge the wicked, as well as bring trials upon the righteous to strengthen their faith, chastize them, as well as make them an example of faithfulness and mercy. Daniel, and Ezekiel, both suffered under the invasion of the Babylonian forces.

So while it is arrogant to say that Katrina is God's judgement, it is also arrogant to assume that it is not. We as Christians should preach Luke 13, "If you do not repent, you will likewise perish".
