"I don't want to look like I slept upside down in a posthole, like I bounced off the back of a covered wagon, like I am eating out of trash cans, like I am living out of a food pantry, or like I am getting my clothes from the missionary barrel. I have had enough of that. You can keep it if you want to. I will endure the persecution that comes with the blessing. Why hasn't the body of Christ received this truth? Why are we not living this reality? I am telling you, if you will pray God's way, God can open up whatever you need opened up in your life. Your prayer, mixed with giving, will become a memorial before God." -- Rod Parsley |

LightHouse World Ministries, and John Anderson announce an important upcoming radio debate, between Prof. David Engelsma, amillennialist, and Don K. Preston, preterist.
David Engelsma earned his A.B. from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. B.D. from the Protestant Reformed Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI, and the Th.M. from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI. He has been pastor of the Loveland, CO Protestant Reformed Church for 11 years, from 1963 to 1974. Pastor of the South Holland, IL Protestant Reformed Church for 14 years, from 1974 to 1988.
He was appointed to the Protestant Reformed Seminary in Grandville, MI in 1988 as professor of Dogmatics and Old Testament studies, which position he holds at present. He is editor since 1988 of the semi-monthly Reformed magazine, the "Standard Bearer." He has authored several books: "Marriage, the Mystery of Christ and the Church"; "Hyper-Calvinism & the Call of the Gospel: An Examination of the 'Well-Meant Offer' of the Gospel"; "Better to Marry: Sex and Marriage in I Corinthians 6 & 7." Forthcoming in the summer of 2000 is "Reformed Education: the Christian School as Demand of the Covenant."
Professor Engelsma has recently written articles critical of preterism, deeming the full preterist view as heretical. Engelsma will present and defend the historic amillennial view. You can find Dr. Engelsma’s website at http://www.iserv.net/~prc/
Don K. Preston is the minister at the Ardmore church of Christ, and is the author of numerous books and articles on preterist eschatology. Many of his articles can be found at www.eschatology.org. He has engaged in numerous formal debates, as well as many “informal” encounters, and appears frequently on seminars.
The discussion between Engelsma and Preston will take place September 18, at 7-8 PM Central time. You can listen live on John Anderson’s website, www.Voiceofreasonlive.com. The program will be archived for those unable to listen live.
Topic of the discussion will be "Amillennialism -V- Preterism." This promises to be a very lively and enlightening discussion. Prof. Engelsma brings a high degree of scholarship and learning to the table, and is an outspoken advocate of amillennialism, and opponent of preterism. He is reputed to be an excellent debater. Preston on the other hand is a very active advocate and apologist of the preterist paradigm. Two very different world views will collide in this discussion!! Be sure to tell your friends and neighbors to tune in for this important discussion!!

Many professing Christians, including many on this website, could learn from you and the way you love your neighbor even when in debate with him. Well done indeed. |

It's nice to hear that things went so well. And, I'm not surprised, since Mr. Preston is exhaustive and accurate with the biblical texts while keeping a professional demeanor.
I look forward to hearing the archived file on John Anderson's great website.
Peace to you all,
