PlanetPreterist Columns by Virgil Vaduva
For a while now I have been enjoying many meaningful comments made by the ladies who frequent PlanetPreterist. They usually leave behind a lot of wisdom and often they tend to see things from a completely different perspective than us men. So why then does Preterism appear to be a men-only thing?

Throughout Church history, women have played an integral role, from keeping families together and feeding them, to keeping together entire churches and reaching perhaps millions for Christ. Women are listed as being crucial in the lineage of Jesus; Rahab, Batsheba and of course Mary are listed in the Mattheanic genealogy of Jesus.

Instead of looking at this as a “change” from an old way of looking at women, we should look at Matthew’s attitude towards women as God’s continuous approval of women’s active involvement in His plan, whatever the plan may be. It seems that God had always intended for women to take a larger role, and for whatever reason, the women somehow always end up in the kitchen.

Now, there seem to be some tendencies in Preterism to exclude women from participating in the development of the movement; somehow they end up on the sidelines when they should be writing, speaking and helping with developing better ways to promote understanding of fulfilled prophecy.

A key thing we continue to stress at each TruthVoice conference, is how “colorful” Preterism is by nature, and how it has the potential to unite Christianity in a way never seen before. If Baptists, Pentecostals, Catholics and Presbyterians can all sit down and talk theology over a steak dinner, we should also be able to allow the ladies to have a larger role.

So, let this be a simple call for the ladies to become more involved within the Preterist movement. We need you and we need your perspective; we need you to write articles with a woman’s insight; and we need you as speakers to teach us from your unique perspective. This “Preterist thing” is not a men-only club, so remember ladies, you are always welcome here, and in everything else PlanetPreterist does.

Now Virgil why not get the ball rolling by allowing me to interview your mother-in-law, who has been a preterist for about 35 years and is a close friend of Max King's wife?

Jesus did not say to Mary "Go get the boys" instead he told her to say "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." John 20:17. It seems to indicate that in the New Covenant Jesus was happy for a woman to proclaim a significant spiritual truth to men.

Ladies, Virgil is right, Speak Up!

Virgil, you really amaze me! On what Scriptural basis can you support this "larger role?" It's perfectly clear in the NT that SALVATION-wise, women have the same eternal home and the same respect by God for women, as He has for men. In fact, the NT shows Jesus RESTORING the respect for women that had deteriorated in the apostate Jewish state. But, women's role ON EARTH, that has not changed.

Why are you amazed that "women SOMEHOW always end up in the kichen?" [emphasis mine]. And why do you imply that this is, somehow, a LESSER role? Read Titus 2 and see the importance of women being in the home, and GASP, in the kitchen!

Once again, we Christians are not thinking like Christians, but think and exhibit the spirit of the French Revolution where men and women ALL now have EQUAL roles in life - the bane of egalitarianism - the removal of the God-given gender roles that complement each other. The beautiful result of a man fulfilling his role and a woman fulfiling her role, and becoming one flesh, all for the glory of Jesus Christ - not man! It's NOT about us!

How can we Christians be so perception in areas, like eschatology, and be so blind in others?

Please forgive my exasperation.

I think I remember several women at TV'05, including my wife. Are you going to have a woman speaker at TV'06?
