News: Announcing: A Major Radio Debate!

The Coast to Coast radio program, with George Noory, the fourth largest talk show in America, will host an unprecedented three hour religious discussion this Thursday June 9, 11PM to 2AM pacific time. The discussion will feature John Anderson, of LightHouseWorld Ministries, and Ken Parsons, of WarZoneWinner.com. The topic of the discussion will be: Is the modern Rapture doctrine as popularized by the Left Behind books, taught in the Bible?
Mr. Parsons is a dispensationalist and long time admirer of Hal Lindsay, while Anderson is a representative of the fast growing preterist view of prophecy. Preterism says that all prophecy of the end times was fulfilled at the end of the Jewish age in the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Mr. Parsons believes that the Rapture may occur in October of 2005.
The Coast To Coast radio program ranks as the fourth most popular radio talk show in America, ranking behind only Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, and Hannity and Combs. According to Chris Pearson of the Genesis Network, there are normally 5-7,000 calls in response to the average guest on program. Mr. Pearson emphasized however, that normally, no guest is given over an hour of air time. This three hour discussion is virtually unprecedented for the The Coast To Coast program. This discussion has come about due to the growing popularity of Anderson’s regular Sunday night program The Voice of Reason. This invitation demonstrates the incredible interest in end times studies, not to mention the growing influence of the preterist movement.
In addition to the actual debate, callers from across America will be welcome to call in and ask questions of each of the participants. If you wish to call in go to www.Coasttocoastam.com for the numbers to call in your area. It may very well be that this discussion will present the basic ideas of Covenant Eschatology to the largest audience to ever hear the message at one time.
The discussion can be heard in your area by going to www.coasttocoastam.com and choosing from one of the hundreds of affiliates for a station in your area. Or, you can listen live by going to www.Thevoiceofreasonlive.com , www.gcnlive.com , XM radio or one of the many affiliates in Canada for those listening there.
While the topic of the discussion will focus on the Rapture, related topics such as the last days, the nature of the coming of the Lord, the resurrection, a future Temple, and other topics will likely be discussed. This discussion provides an almost unparalleled and exciting opportunity for the message of Covenant Eschatology to be heard across America. Anderson solicits your prayers for him in this endeavor.

He's so inquisitive and open minded, just like Art Bell was, and he lets his guests thoroughly give their points before getting involved. It's a great show.
Also, what an opportunity! Coast to Coast has literally MILLIONS of listeners from all sorts of religions. I can't wait.
I will definitely be listening in. Thanks for the heads up, since I usually try to save the batteries on my little portable radio. I might've missed it. :)
God bless

I'm sure it will go well.
People who listen will certainly want a source for follow-up information, and John's website is a great spot for people to listen freely to further archived audio discussions from some great Preterist speakers.
So, I hope John is able to plug his site address frequently and maybe Coast-to-Coast will also put his link on their site for a while.
It would be nice to hear from John in the coming months about how much interest was generated from this major broadcast.
Peace,

I spoke with one of the folks at Genesis as the details were being put together, and he said that they average between 5-7,000 phone calls per one hour program! In his words, "I am not sure that even you and John fully realize what is about to happen in your world when the program is aired!"
Needless to say, this will indeed be the largest one time audience in history to hear the message of Covenant Eschatology!
I can tell you that John is pumped, and very excited, needless to say. May the Lord grant him calmness and recollection!!

Re: Announcing: A Major Radio Debate! (Score: 1)
by chrisliv on Friday, June 10 @ 14:29:08 PDT (User Info | Send a Message) | OK,
I listened to the whole thing.
John came across with more persuasive statements, but he still could have actually made more concrete points about how Preterists agree with the Bible and History as they relate to the catastrophic events surrounding the Siege and Fall of Jerusalem and its Temple. John tends to use several catch-phrases, like "esco-babble", which go right over the heads of the uninitiated and sound kind of arrogant.
Most churchgoers have never heard a clear overview of the Preterist position.
There was an online vote about who listeners thought "won" the "debate", and they voted Ken as the winner. That was no suprise, as everyone who called-in was of a Dispensational-futurist orientation, so they voted for their own bias.
The host and the format of the show was not terribly debate-like, which was nice, and John could have utilized more of his time in a teaching mode rather than trying to stir a more heated debate, because he was in no danger of Ken presenting a better point of view.
Ken sincerely and repeatedly presented two of the classic distortions of Dispensationalism: that "genea" implies race, and that "this generation" can mean a generation that comes into existence 2000 or more years into the future. And John countered those assertions pretty well. Of course, the Bible does not condemn the Jewish Race, just that wicked generation, e.g., Mt 23:33: "You serpents, You generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?"
Of course, they certainly didn't escape in 70 AD.
Since the Coast-to-Coast audience are not mostly Bible students, to just cite a verse without actually verbalizing it will lose its impact. For eamaple, if John quoted "Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom," and to then ask Ken, "Do you believe some of the disciple did actually see the Coming of the Son of Man in His Kingdom within the 1st century?" is better than citing "Mat.16:28 or Luke 9:27." And, to say to a Dispensationalist, "Doesn't the 'Rapture' supposedly occur around the time of the Coming of Christ?"
To me, it seems a key point for the uninitiated to hear certain prophetic statements of Christ from the Olivet Discourse about the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple being destroyed within the lifetimes of those living 1st century, while again asking Dispensationalists if they believed those statements were fulfilled by the gruesome events of 70 AD and if they're even aware of those gruesome events.
John was able to often plug his site and offer a free boolket, Can Got Tell Time, by Don Preston. And that is where the real teaching of the Preterist position will probably come in following months, slowly.
I know it's easy to comment from outside the ring, but I offer these observations as constructive criticism that may help John on future speaking engagements that are likely to follow. John did a good job and this broadcast will probably open the door for a lot more Preterist exposure.
Peace to you all,
C. Livingstone |

Longtime Coast-to-Coast listener (Score: 1)
by SuperSoulFighter on Saturday, June 11 @ 19:26:58 PDT (User Info | Send a Message) | I'm thrilled that John Anderson was invited to defend Full Preterism on this program. I have no doubt that it was patently obvious how absurd Dispensationalism really is, in very short order.
I'm sorry I missed the program, but hope to call in and comment on an "open lines" segment of the show sometime soon. For a couple of years now, I've been meaning to do this, as Coast to Coast listeners and guests seem to subscribe to "futurist sensationalism" rather readily in most cases, and a more balanced perspective representing our viewpoint is long overdue.
Again, I'm overjoyed that Anderson was given this opportunity. I'll have to get my hands on a copy of the program.

by shaggy_flasko on Sunday, June 12 @ 13:12:12 PDT (User Info | Send a Message) | That was a pretty lame debate, as far as debates go. Anderson did well to present the preterist position from scripture and simply give a solid case against the rapture (scripturally). However, Parson hardly adressed the Bible. I can't remember a time he even made reference to it except for 1 Thessalonians.
When two men are brought together for a debate on scripture, I figured the Bible would be the focal point.
Oh well, well done, Mr. Anderson. I hope you enjoyed your breakfast...Parson. :)
God bless
