The office of Senator Frist, the majority leader in the U.S. Senate just announced that a "deal" has been reached on the fillibuster showdown looming this evening. A press conference is in the works now, and details of this deal are not yet known. Developing...
WASHINGTON — Centrists from both parties reached a compromise Monday night to avoid a showdown on President Bush's (search) stalled judicial nominees and the Senate's own filibuster (search) rules, officials from both parties said.
These officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the agreement would clear the way for yes or no votes on some of Bush's nominees, but make no guarantee.
Under the agreement, Democrats would pledge not to filibuster any of Bush's future appeals court or Supreme Court nominees except in "extraordinary circumstances."
For their part, Republicans agreed not to support an attempt to strip Democrats of their right to block votes.

I'll just say, if it is as bad as it looks, McPain will NEVER take the Republican nomination for President. I think he's done. |

DeWine and Graham that I shall be making no more donations to the RNC because some of the money might go them or to the other sell-outs. The same applies to groups that solicit for the Senate. I shall be donating the funds thus saved for future donations to their primary opponents. As for McPain, having learned nothing from his campaign financing fiasco, which has made people like George Soros even more influential, he has gone on to another great "triumph." Shouldn't say this on this site, I suppose, but that man is an absolute blockhead. |

McCain or Absalom? (Score: 1)

He always hides behind his 'convictions', as if they're from the throne of God. More and more I am seeing him as an Absalom. Now he, in a BACKROOM DEAL, has usurped the authority of Senator Frist, let alone the conservatives who voted him into office! Tell me, is that not like Absalom? |
