John Anderon of Lighthouse World Ministry has confirmed that a major radio debate will take place on February 22, 2004 at 7-8 PM central time. The debate will feature world re-knowned Bible scholar, Prof. Harold Hoehner, of Dallas Theological Seminary, and Don K. Preston. Professor Hoehner is well known to most serious Bible students across all denominational borders.
Don K. Preston has written several books on Covenant Eschatology, and has engaged in numerous radio debates on Anderson's program, as well as several formal public debates. Preston is scheduled to have another formal public debate with amillennialist Thomas Thrasher in Indianapolis, March 13. Details of the Indianapolis debate are below on this on this page. Tentative agreement has also been reached for a two day formal debate between Preston and a very well known evangelical scholar who we cannot identify at this time. That is what you call a tease!
Professor Hoehner confirmed his willingness to engage in the discussions in a conversation with Anderson on February 10. Hoehner took note of the rapid growth of the preterist view of prophecy, admitting that it is becoming a major force in the evangelical community. This promises to be an exciting and profitable exchange.
The topic of the debate between Hoehner and Preston will be whether we are in the last days foretold by the Bible, or whether the last days were in the first century.
The preterist community owes John Anderson a debt of gratitude for his tireless work in opening doors to spread the truth of Covenant Eschatology. His personal financial sacrifices are not known to many, but I can personally attest to the fact that John makes great sacrifices because he desires one thing — to spread the Truth of God's word as he understands it. He spends countless hours on the phone sharing his convictions about God's word and finding reputable representatives of the various futurist eschatologies that are willing to engage in honorable discussions on his program. His passion for the truth should be inspiring to all. Agree or disagree with everything John says, you have to appreciate his enthusiasm and untiring efforts to promote the message of Realized Salvation.
