From Guelf Mercury: When Bethel Maseruka wanted to know more about atheism yesterday, he signed out an atheist at the University of Guelph library. Not a book on atheism, mind you, but a real atheist. Chris Langley, to be exact...Maseruka continued to lean toward a version of Christianity called preterism, which holds that the Bible's prediction of end times in the Book of Revelation has already come to pass, bringing both good and bad to Earth.Click here to read the entire article

Hey,

What a cool concept, to have access to a library of people to literally check out, much like a book.

And mention of the Preterist position seems to be a little more matter-of-fact now, too, and rightly so.

Peace to you all,
C. Livingstone

"I don't think atheists are well represented, both on campus and in the community at large," Langley said. "I think we're a misunderstood bunch."

Who in the world is he kidding. Our culture is created by "atheist". They may not call themselves such but the effect of what they believe is what drives our culture. You certainly can not call this a "Christian nation".

Every Christian community needs an atheist or two to keep it honest. The extent to which we vilify the atheist is the extent to which we fear our own doubts.

No problem there. The mainline Protestant churches are loaded with atheist.

Which even I sometimes don't get. My humanities professor is a deacon in his church, but he believes the Bible is complete nonsense, from front to back.

Yeah,

This guy, Maseruka, was obviously studying atheism more than actually considering it, from what I can detect.

I mean, he is pretty advanced just to be a Preterist. And I like how the article gives a non-sectarian, fair, single-sentence outline of it, rather than a strawman portrayal of the Preterist position:

"Maseruka continued to lean toward a version of Christianity called preterism, which holds that the Bible's prediction of end times in the Book of Revelation has already come to pass, bringing both good and bad to Earth."

But then Maseruka is quoted directly, with something that is more advanced than simple Preterism:

"I think heaven and hell are already here," Maseruka said. "The good thing is we have a choice where we want to live."

I like that kind of Heaven Now sentiment, or New Jerusalem as a current reality, spiritual dimensional, and attitude.

Peace to you all,
C. Livingstone
