Ohio mandatory newborn DNA testing
Today I ran across a very interesting article which educated me on something I did not know: the state (in this case Ohio) mandates DNA testing of all newborns without any parent consent or notification. In Ohio, all newborns are required to be screened for 32 disorders.
Worse yet, none of the states practicing this obscene invasion of privacy have any retention on the DNA they collect from newborns, and according to CNN they often share the DNA with medical researchers...all done without any parent knowledge or consent.
This stuff is really disturbing to me, and the first thing that came to mind was the Nazi eugenics practices operating under the motto "life unworthy of life," attempting to identify the "criminal, degenerate, dissident, feeble-minded, homosexual, idle, insane, and the weak, for elimination from the chain of heredity."
Is anyone else troubled by this stuff or am I the only one?

I found a PDF file with the 50 states blood retention policies, so I went ahead and posted it in the article above. This should help anyone with questions about this practice.
And remember, where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that.
Every thing secret degenerates, even the administration of justice; nothing is safe that does not show how it can bear discussion and publicity.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Jeff you nailed it; it is not the test itself that is the problem...it's the state secrecy and unaccountability that's the issue. Why does the state need to know the genetic makeup of a free human being? There is absolutely no reason for anything like this to happen at the behest of government.
