... In other words, the denomination does not believe that the Bible supports the notion that Jews are promised the land of Israel as their homeland. Wow! And they are not the only ones. Other denominations recently have reached similar conclusions.

The war was over. The camps were opened. The world saw and was appalled. How could a civilized, and yes, even a Christian nation perpetrate such horrors upon another people?

Mr. Cowen needs to acquaint himself more fully with BOTH Testaments, and avoid the traditions and faulty thinking of other men.

There is no such thing as "Messianic Judaism". Judaism and Christianity have no common ground, today. Mosaic Judaism ceased to exist in 70 AD, when the "elements" of that form of worship were consumed with fire - including the Levitical genealogies. Modern "Judaism" is a disembowelled, emasculated parody of the original, and has no real relationship to the Scriptures OR the God of Israel. Judaism and Christianity are clearly at odds. They are like oil and water - there is no lasting resolution of their differences and opposing claims in some kind of "hybrid" religiosity. Those Christians (Dispensationalists) who think there can be some kind of pseudo-cultural amalgamation of "Jewish" religious practices into "Christianity" (Churchianity) are grossly mistaken, and are perpetuating the continuance of an accursed system of faith and practice.

I have emailed Mr. Cowen on these matters, and I hope he takes the time to respond to some of these charges against his beliefs and views, here.

Written genologies have been lost but families each have their own characteristics or traits. The Jews are certainly descendants of Judea yet what about the other 11 sons of Israel? What traits and which nations display them? Last 2 or 3 chapters of Genesis reveal these. Joseph is discribed as a strong military power that defeats ALL his enemies. Does that not sound like the USA?

In fact, I believe the greatest proof in the world today of God’s reality is the existence of the modern state of Israel and the return of the Jews to that land.

Israel is better evidence of God than Jesus or Scripture? wow.

So the author, an Israelite himself is basically equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism. This is simply another display of Scriptural ignorance. Careleslly throwing "anti-semite" around will not change people's minds or make them like you more. This reminds me of the the Seinfeld episode where Jerry's uncle Leo called the cook anti-semite because his medium-rare burger was served medium.
It's absolutely ridiculous, and it creates antagonism among believers. How about dealing with scriptural facts? Yes, God called Israel "his people", but He also called Israel "a whore". I guess God was anti-semite too...

Never fear Mr. Richmond. This may be the "official" theological stance of most Presbyterian denominations, but the people sitting in the pews are overwhelmingly dispensational in their eschatology and don't even know it. You owe a debt of gratitude to men like Tim LaHaye and Tommy Ice.

But boldness without truth will never make a Christian confessor: and if a man injures himself for the love of error, he is not a martyr but a suicide. William A. Jones
