This is what happens when someone who is completely ignorant on a given topic attempts to refute that topic:

This wouldn't be as funny if the guy wouldn't be as arrogant as he is in this video. Christianity is in a sad state of affairs out there folks.

Amen Virgil. This guy represents what I hate the most about current theological discussion. He has no deference for others thoughts or views. He is rude and mocking, and he states as fact things which are the result of a ridiculous twisting of scripture. It is indeed very sad.

yeah. arrogant is the word.

I listened to a few of his other broadcasts and he doesn't bother to pronounce the names of world leaders correctly - he mangles them and then says oh well, it doesn't matter.

he denigrates Japanese poetry (apparently he thinks that the haiku is the only form of Japanese poetry) and he mocks those who like poetry.

I am not sure how sad affairs really are but for some first rate Christian content I turn to Ancient Faith Radio, especially Fr. Thomas Hopko's series on the names of Jesus ( He currently has 33 podcasts at about 50 minutes each on Jesus. And there is his other series on miscellaneous Christian topics ( He has 144 podcasts of about 40 minutes each. If there is a more gifted and erudite Christian speaker podcasting today I am not aware of it.

And for essays on religion, culture and public policy try First Things at (

This "gem" turned up as a related video:

...I thought it mildly amusing until the writings on the wall said;

Sad stuff.

I am sorry I watched that...hehe :)

I could only stand to listen to this guy for the first 5:30. Let’s see all of the book of revelation is to be taken literally...except the time statements. Duh

Let’s see the book of revelation prophecies about false prophets and off course John knew what he was talking about in revelation, but he did not know what he was talking about when he said "1 John 4:1 (ESV) 1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." DUH!

Let's see the verse he quoted to accuse preterist if being false teachers, well what did Peter say, "
2 Peter 2:1 (ESV) 1But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction." So they were to expect false teachers in their lifetime. Hmmm

Let's see let’s start with the presupposition that something is wrong and then eisegesis to support your view. Hmmm

Darrell said, "I am trying to spread the word about His soon return."

I wonder if Darrell meant soon as it was used in the New Testament?

cinper's picture

Great point, Mike. I never thought to use that in a discussion. Why does "soon" now mean "soon" but then it meant "2000 years later?"

psychohmike's picture

Cognitive dissonance my friend. It's bipolar eschatology.

Wow!! I endured his rant for 11 minutes..Ouch!! Christians who fail to first believe that their understanding may possibly be faulty, will never come to the Truth of Gods' Word. This particular teacher? does not understand the Spiritual nature of the prophecies and would rather mock those of us who have grown past his current position. Virgil, he erected so many " straw men" you may want to see if he can help with your bale house. Merry Christmas to all..May His unfailing, conquering Presence provide all you need. Dave

It was truly hard to endure Dave!
And "straw men" is the name of the game.

To win a point always say what the other person is not actually saying and then disprove that point. Then light a match to the straw man build with hands and bask in the glory of its warmth and light. LOL ROFL!

Man that last line was alright eh? I'll have to use that again LOL!
