A new Preterist public discussion forum is underway - Preterism@yahoogroups.com! Preterism will be discussed here from a Reformed and Calvinistic point of view, but those of an Arminian and Futuristic persuasion are free to benefit from the lively eschatological topics. Check us out!http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Preterism/

I tryed the link to Yahoo groups and got screen full of just codes. Don't know if it is just me or the link.
Hmmm...
Well, that's strange. It worked for me after I read your post.
How about this: Try www.yahoogroups.com, and then run a search on the word, "Preterism". Our group should be the first one that pops up.

Personally I hate yahoogroups. I joined the Preterist group that Dave Green sponsored, and still can't figure out how to post messages. I get e-mails, but my posts are never recorded on the site.
We have a perfectly good discussion forum right here at Planet Preterist. Thanks Virgil for a great site and awesome forum.

I'm with you Val. I have tried to join Todd Dennis in his yahoo group and have had nothing but trouble. I have now spent two hours trying to get on Jonathan's group and still nothing! It's quite frustrating!
I would rather spend two hours listening to a preacher talking about an imminent rapture of the church than mess with yahoo.
As much as I don't want to limit variety in discussion, I worry that starting too many "groups" will splinter the preterists.
Take for instance how it seemed PreteristArchives was the number 1 place for preterist information nd interaction. Now we have PlanetPreterist -- which I like the discussion format here, but I like all the resources at PretArchive. If we could somehow combine these two elements, we can remain unified. So please, consider this when starting new discussion groups and preteristic sites. --- thanks (and I don't have any affiliation with PretArchive or PlanetPret btw ;) )
Hello Rod,
Good to run into you again! :-) You've been posting some good stuff up here at planet preterist. I commend you for that. Great job.
I understand your concern about "divisions" and so forth within Preterism, and the the need to remain unified. (Of course, you and I both agree that "unity" does not mean a wholesale acceptance or toleration for everything that every Preterist may teach.)
One of the reasons I started this list was to counter some of the Preterist lists out there which cater to Liberals, Skeptics, Annihilationists, Universalists, and so forth. I noticed too much of that going on at the Preterist Archives and in several places at Yahoogroups. As a result, I wanted to help expand the number of strongholds for a more Orthodox and Reformed Preterism. With the addition of my list at Yahoogroups, there are now three Preterists discussion forums that operate in a more responsible manner with respect to preserving sound doctrine and the purity of the Word. The other two belong to Ed Stevens and David Green. These three lists are very much unified in their outlook, and operate along the same guidelines. Many of the members from each of these lists cross over to the other two, so it makes for establishing stronger Reformed relationships, and breeds a healthy familiarity and respect for one another.
Anyway, time to get back to the "real world" here at home. Have a great weekend!
Jonathan
Jonathan, do you view PlanetPreterist as catering to liberals and skeptics?
I think I we cover a very wide spectrum of topics here...
One of the challenges that I have within the preterist camp is that so many of my colleagues are more interested in preserving "sound doctrine" than in finding the truth of God's word.
While at the same time condemning Andrew Sandlin and his friends for anathematizing Preterists, these same "Orthodox" Full Preterists (now that's a stretch) feel the need to anathematize all who might have a disagreement with them.
I enjoy Planet Preterist because we get to see all ideas presented here, with an appropriate amount of censorship. We can then discuss biblically any disagreements that we may encounter. This is what we preterists have demanded from everyone else; why can't we allow it within our own fellowship?
Although I am Reformed and a paedobaptist, I fully accept my Church of Christ and Baptist brethren. I may disagree with them on the way I understand the scriptures, however, they are trusting in the salvation found solely in Christ, the Son of God and Second Person of the Godhead. That is ultimately matters to me. The rest can be discussed in a Christian manner, with gentleness and persuasion, not condemnation.

Roderick, our Encyclopedia contains most if not all the content that the Preterist Archive has...I don't think most people are aware of that. I need to do a better job at marketing that content...
