Church-State Relations and the Book of Revelation: An Introduction to the Work of James Stuart Russell
CHURCH-STATE RELATIONS AND THE BOOK OF REVELATION:
AN INTRODUCTION TO THE WORK OF JAMES STUART RUSSELL
The Scriptures must be allowed to speak for themselves — a liberty which many will not concede.[1]
Matthew's resurrection in chapter 27:52,53
What do we make of this account? There are so many glaring problems with this passage. Does anyone else see this?
The "Almost" but "Not Quite" of Fulfillment
Remember the bright orange “General Lee” from the Dukes of Hazzard? Mine was a 1971 Dodge Charger, metallic blue, nice rims, great sounding stereo, quick off the line — the perfect car for any teenager and it was all mine — or so I thought. My father had taken me over to the car dealership to “buy” the car of my dreams.
Notable Noted Bibles
Many things in my life are ironic. My father was a missionary but I became a computer scientist. My college buddies studied to be pilots and with much teasing about putting them out of a job my first job after college was a gig working on auto-pilot and navigation systems. The list goes on.
Our Father which Art a Lion
So the apostles and a few others hanging around back in the day got basic instructions for life in the New Covenant. As if they had no clue how to "think" about God then Christ comes along and explains when they pray they should say, "Our Father."
Insurrection by Peter Rollins
My friend JR kindly reviewed Peter Rollins' latest book, Insurrection - give it a read if you have a chance: http://jrforasteros.com/2011/11/28/insurrection-by-peter-rollins/

Shall we not put an end to the bickering?!
"For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe." 1 Tim 4:10
"For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid..." Rom 3:3
Thanks, God, for this physical bread!
I grew up the child of Independent Baptist Missionaries. Much of my childhood life was spent on the pews and bowing my head with closed eyes at the dinner table. One thing I realized about the Baptist prayer habits has really hit me like a brick truck. I watch my father religiously pray before every meal. This, of course, is not a bad thing.
THE CANUCKS ARE IN THE FINALS!!
Well, here it is! The Stanley Cup final series starts Wednesday evening! I can't wait...although I'm working on afternoon shift that day so I'll be listening to it on the radio rather than watching it! Canuck fans are generally confident that we'll beat the Bruins, and that it will be a short series (four or five games), but it should be a lot of fun to watch.
Millennium mess?
I have been studying Preterism for almost 10 years and have been a member of PP for over 5. I have truly enjoyed my walk with Christ and have more reverence and respect for the enormous work Jesus did than I ever did when I was under the shadow of hearing He didn't quite get it done like He said He would.

Debate on the Nature of the Heavens and the Earth of Genesis 1:1
This debate is being conducted at http://livebytr.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=pmview&view=1&id=3271
Both yours truly and my opponent Kangaroojack have posted affirmatives of our respective positions. Mine is below. A Word file with links and original formatting is available upon request.

John Piper and the Early Church
The most bizarre (and short) article I've read in a long time has got to be this recent two paragraph musing by John Piper. Maybe it is technically a "blog posting." Whatever it is, it reads:
"Don’t Equate Historically Early with Theologically Accurate"
I trusted my professors- like a child.
When I was in college I trusted my professors- like a child. Now, I have a new Counselor.

Sam Frost makes it Official "He has Left Full Preterism"
Sam Frost has now made it public that he has indeed left Full Preterism officially. Sam didn’t really have to tell many of us as we have seen his partial Preterism tendencies for years. Sam values his influence over those who are conflicted along with him on how to rightly divide the full Preterist hermeneutic and will continue to offer those who haven’t fully grasped the full Preterist hermeneutic refuge under his wings. I expect Sam will begin setting himself up as the alternative approach to full Preterism so that he may rescue the conflicted for Reformed orthodoxy. I don't believe we have heard the last of Sam Frost in full Preterist circles.
