Is such exaltation warranted from the Scriptures we claim to be sufficient for all faith and practice?

Jesus Christ Not For Me: Preterism is a "Last ditch effort"

We recently ran across a website ( where the author puts forth many reasons why he believes Jesus was a liar, a false prophet and a scam artist. Most of these reasons seem to be based on the apparent failures of Christ's prophecies regarding his return. It appears that Mark Smith, the author of the website was "set free from Jesus" by some of C.S. Lewis' writings concerning Jesus' failed prophecies regarding his second coming.
